Well, I am about to do it. I am going to channel my inner brew master and create my own home microbrewery. By no means will it be a grand marvel, but it ought to provide me and my friends with plenty of delicious malted nectar. This is something that I have been dying to do for quite some time. My dear wife bought me a mini brew kit for Christmas a few years back; however, I just let it sit there and collect dust. Every time I looked at it, anxiety that was derived from my unconscionable reluctance to brew the beer shot through me.
Recently, I attended a National Brew Day event in the local area that really lit a fire under my ass to take the first step. The event was held in the parking lot of Booth's Brewing & Bar Supply. There, I saw some of the most interesting home brewery set-ups that I have ever seen. Jay Lesher, a local welder that specializes in breweries, turned three old kegs and a couple burners into a brew-making masterpiece. On a lesser scale, I saw a couple with a set of 5 or 10 gallon cylindrical coolers converted into a similar set-up. One cooler fed hot water to the other cooler that was revamped into a mash tun. The cost difference between the two was about $1000; so I believe that I will go with the coolers. With a modern flare, it is time for me to join the likes of George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and Samuel Adams (duh!) and become a brewer. I will capture the project on a separate post.

Weight Training
Perhaps I will occasionally post my workouts and workout methodology. Currently, I am training in a 4-day split: Chest/tris/delts, back/bis/forearms, legs, and traps/neck. At the moment, I have adopted the phase four implementation of Dr. Jim Stoppani’s 12 week program. This portion of the program allows me to work out each muscle group through the whole weight range, from heavy to light, in one workout. Unfortunately, one of my biggest issues is that I do not take a disciplined approach to training. Without a pen, paper, or plan, I walk into the gym only knowing which muscles I need to work out.
On Monday, February 06, I conducted the following training:
Standing One-arm Lat Pull-down – 45 x 6, 50 x 5, 55 x 3
Sitting One-arm Lat Pull-down – 35 x 10, 40 x 8, 45 x 7
Bent Over Barbell Row – 95 x 15, 115 x 13, 115 x 12
One-arm Preacher Curl – 30 x 7, 35 x 6, 40 x 5
Pulley Reverse Curl – 60 x 15, 65 x 15, 70 x 13, 75 x 10

...And So It Begins!
Well, I am not sure where I am going with this thing, but I'll give it a shot. I suppose the only real purpose for this blog is to fine tune my writing and critical thinking skills...or lack thereof. Let's see where this takes me, that is if I don't lose interest first. :)
Here is a baby picture of me:
